Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
You’ve done the inner work — therapy, coaching, books, podcasts… so why do you still feel stuck in the same patterns?
This is the missing piece of midlife healing, self-trust, and reinvention that no one talks about: your body.
In this episode, Kena breaks down why mindset alone isn’t enough for lasting transformation — and how your nervous system, stored emotions, and unconscious patterns keep pulling you back into survival mode.
If you’re a woman navigating midlife transitions — divorce, loss, reinvention, or a spiritual awakening — this conversation will shift how you approach your healing journey.
Through embodiment, breathwork, and nervous system regulation, you’ll begin to move from overthinking to feeling, from control to surrender, from disconnection to deep self-trust.
This is where true midlife empowerment begins — not in your mind, but in your body.
✨ In This Episode You’ll Learn
- Why mindset work alone keeps you stuck in midlife patterns
- How to regulate your nervous system and shift out of survival mode
- What happens when you stop suppressing emotions and start embodying them

- The key to self-trust, alignment, and true midlife reinvention

Invitation And Closing Reflections
Kena SiuIs your body evolving as your mind is evolving? Welcome back to the Midlife Butterfly Podcast. This is Ken a Siu, your empowerment coach, your guide here. And I'm asking this because I don't know, but my guess is that if you listen to me, it's because you are into doing the inner work, into you know, listening to more podcasts like this where you can learn something to have self-reflections. You've been probably with coaches and mentors, you love reading books of self-help, self-development, you might be going to retreats and different things that help you grow and evolve as a human being. And I applaud you for that. Because unfortunately, we are not many people, the ones who we are in this path, it keeps growing, which is awesome. There's more people waking up, there are more people remembering who they are. The thing is that to remember more of who we are, it's not just about getting all that information in the mind. Because if that information doesn't go down to the body, you are going to continue to come back to all beliefs, old patterns, all behaviors that might come from you, from your life experiences directly. The thing is that a lot of the things that you experience, they don't even come from you. They come from your upbringing, from culture, religion, education, ancestors, and of course, the collective. So that's why it's very challenging to be able to upgrade yourself to your next level when your mind, your ego, using as a coping mechanism, the survival mode brings you back to the between quotes, the old you. Again, it's the ego as a coping mechanism because it's used to certain things, certain thoughts, certain behaviors that you've been doing for such a long time. Everything changes. Better say, to be the bridge between the mind and the body. Because that disconnection is the one that doesn't allow you to be at your best now, even though you know you have all this knowledge. And with this kind of breathing, you bring all your body with you. Why? Because this kind of system helps to balance your nervous system because it works with the vagus nerve. It helps you balance your energy centers. Since we use different breathing patterns, either if it's, you know, inhaling through the nose, exhaling through the mouth, even it is inhaling and exhaling through the mouth, inhaling and exhaling through the nose, doing amnesia, meaning when you hold your breath, and at the same time using the body by squeezing the perineum and moving the energy inside the body itself. Because the body, this beautiful avatar that you are actually wearing, that your soul is wearing, the one that keeps you alive, it has all this energy inside. And what happens sometimes is that we reject some things or thoughts or emotions. We try to get rid of them when we actually gotta learn to transmute it, to transform it, because it's energy. And energy cannot be destroyed, it can only be transformed. So by doing this kind of breathing technique, what happens is the body rearranges the energy that is within you. So if you have, let's say, a lot of anger, instead of rejecting that anger through breathing, what you can do is transform that anger, and then the body will alchemize it and bring that energy wherever your body needs it the most. So then you can feel calmer, feel more peace, feel at ease. And of course, the more you practice, the more you're gonna get into these sensations of tenderness, of peace, of feeling that beauty and abundance and love that is within you. Because if the body keeps staying in a sympathetic mode, meaning when you are in fight or flight, most of the time, over there you cannot find calmness. You cannot find peace and ease over there. So you gotta come back to the body. And by using this technique with different ways of breathing, that's how you come calm your body. That's how you can rewire your brain just by breathing. You don't even have to talk about your traumas or your wounds or whatever circumstance that you might be going through that must be challenging, that every time you repeat it, you're kind of like bringing it back to the body and you are rewiring that. So it's about using this technique to move that energy within, and then don't ask about it. Because the mind is gonna try to find the answer, is gonna try to figure it out what happened, what did you heal, if whatever thought came through it made sense, and you know, because the logical mind wants to know, but the wisdom of the body doesn't need to know, the wisdom of the body, all it needs is to feel the emotions and the sensations and just allow them to flow through you. That's it, that's all, and that's how then all that information that you've been gathering in your mind, all that knowledge that you've been going through, you know, again, as I say at the beginning, books, podcasts, coaches, retreats, etc., etc., that's how they then come down to the body, and little by little you start noticing in your day-to-day, in how you behave, in how you think, in how you respond to other people, that is where very subtle, very softly, you start seeing the integration of all that knowledge that is in your mind, then in your day-to-day, because now is your body the one taking the signal, the one acting and not reacting, the one that is aware of the sensations that is that are out there for you to know what feels good for you and what it doesn't feel good for you, what it makes you really engage with something because it comes from your heart and your intuition instead of coming from the logical mind, because there's a should and a have. And that's how with that awareness by feeling your body, by being in your body most of the time, as you know, again, it's a practice, it's a daily practice. The more you live in your body, the more you're gonna start living in coherence, meaning that what you think, what you feel, and what you act on are gonna be in alignment. And the more you get to do that, to practice that in your day-to-day, that's how you can live by design, meaning that's how you can create every moment of your day with intention, purpose of what it feels good to you in your body, in your heart. And then when the body is the one sending the signal to the mind, from the bottom up and not from the top to the bottom. It's when your days are gonna get better. Why? Because you're doing it from a place that feels good, from a place that comes from the heart, from your intuition, from your soul guiding you up in connection with the divine, and then from there you'll find more flow, more freedom, more abundance, more love, and more of anything that you desire because everything is there for you, it's about having that willingness, first of all, to surrender the body so we can open it, and you can allow those downloads that come from the divine through you, allowing yourself to remember who you truly are, and stop living from all these personalities that you had to build in order to survive. Stop surviving. It is time to start living, it is time to start enjoying your life if it is possible, and that comes by embodying who you truly are, by feeling your being in your body, and next Thursday, I am actually offering a neuroepigenetic breathing session. We had one yesterday, it was beautiful. The women in there they were saying, I cannot believe how stiff my body is, and you cannot know until you don't move it, you cannot know until you don't connect to it, and that's my invitation to connect back to your body the wisdom, the person who you truly are lives in there, and the way to bring her back, it's by connecting back to your body, to your essence. Thank you so much for being here today. This is another, you know, reflection bomb for you. I'm gonna share the link about the session in the comments, and I really, really hope to see you there. Take care, and as usual, much love. Thank you for tuning in to Midlife Butterfly. I hope this episode empowers you in some way. Share the love by hitting follow whatever you're listening and leave a review if you feel inspired. I also love to connect with you. Come say hi on Instagram at Midlife Butterfly. I love to know you. Until next time, keep spreading those wings and live enjoying growth and pleasure.
